A Way Forward - Derek Graham makes a statement

A call to action from the Chairman and a lookahead to the future of the club

The existing board and I took over the running of Frome Town AFC in 2020 following the departure of previous Chairman, Jeremy Alderman, and the majority of his board.

During this period, we have run the football club sustainably, breaking even each year, whilst also clearing over £30,000 of legacy debt. This did, however, require some financial assistance from my then Vice-Chairman Jonathan Carver, and the Frome Town Supporters Club, led by Chairmen John Turner and Lester Silk, and myself. The management team, Danny Greaves, and Neil Simons, have also worked on a completely voluntary basis for this entire period.

Whilst managing this difficult financial situation, we managed to build a consistent, promotion-challenging side, culminating in eventually securing the step up to the Southern Premier League last season, in front of a crowd of over 2,000. Our attendances have grown from around 200 to averaging over 500 a game last season and we still feel we have so much more potential left in this area.

However, the costs of running the club at this level requires further investment in order to compete and, ultimately, continue our progression.

Therefore, we are appealing for support! I am, of course, willing to step down as Chairman if the right person or people step forward who possess the right credentials to take this great club forward.

We are also ready and willing to hear from anyone who might be willing to join the existing Board and support the club financially. We are eager to speak to anyone who would like to discuss commercial opportunities if you or your company are able provide the club with much-needed financial assistance that the Football Club requires to continue at Step 3 and beyond in the coming years.

Derek Graham,

Chairman of FTAFC
