We are excited to announce the signing of winger, Albie Hopkins.
A tall forward who lives in Frome, Albie will join his hometown side ahead of a busy pre-season programme and the club's first season in the Southern Premier South division since 2018-19. He joins from Melksham Town where he has spent the last five years.
Prior to his stint at the Wiltshire side, the 24-year-old trained with the Robins having coming through the Oxford United academy as a scholar alongside former Badgers Hill favourite, Rex Mannings. Albie has also had spells on loan at AFC Rushden and Diamonds, Oxford City and Yate Town.
The BA11 support will no doubt remember the threat that the talented winger possesses, his late leveller for the Black-and-Yellows at Badgers Hill nearly spoiling what ended up as a last-gasp 2-1 victory to Frome in April 2023.
Danny Greaves said of his first signing this summer: "I am delighted with the addition of Albie. He was highly sought after, so to get him over the line is great. He caused us all sorts of problems in the games we played last season, so the fans will be well aware what we are getting. He is an exciting player who will look to create and score goals, and will add to our attacking options. It's great to have a local lad who knows what this club means to the town back amongst our ranks."
The new recruit spoke of his delight at joining the BA11 side, "I'm just really excited to be here. Being a local lad, this move makes a lot of sense and I couldn't really turn it down. I'm looking forward to showing everyone what I can do and hopefully proving myself at the higher level!"
Back where he belongs! Best of luck, Albie!
