Bath City 0 - 2 Frome Town

Rapid-fire finishes from James Ollis and Curtis Hutson, ensured a Frome Town delight at Twerton Park.

The BA11 outfit headed into this game on the back of a double victory against Hanwell Town and Swindon Supermarine, which gave the Robins some vital confidence ahea fixture.

Within the first 10 minutes of this Somerset second round tie, it was clear that the visitors were well up for this, applying early pressure whilst creating a handful of half chances.

The Romans were then forced into an early change in the 15th minute, when Alex Fisher was forced off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Danny Greaves men kept knocking on the door and the pressure paid dividends in the 35 minute when an Ethan Vaughan corner was scrambled home by Hutson, following a mistake from Massimo Sardo, meaning a first goal since November 2nd for the Barbados International.

The Robins struck again just three minutes later, this time coming from top goalscorer Ollis, following a great run on the left hand side from the attacker, he took a shot on the edge of the pitch which the talisman managed to curl in.

A dominant display from the team in red and white gave them a 2-0 lead at the break.

Greaves also made a double substitution after the break with Warren Maidment bagging a valuable 45 minutes on his return, being replaced by Matt Wood, whilst Hutson was replaced by Archie Ferris

The first 15 mins of the half at saw a much narrower game, with end to end action but no clear cut chances.

With 25 minutes remaining, the momentum shifted the way of the hosts, with some dangerous attacks from star player Elliot Frear put Seb Tylek into action for the first time in the game, making some vital saves keeping the dodge’s clean sheet intact.

City were pushing deep for the remainder of the match, with both teams using up all of their substitutions in the 69th minute.

A penalty shout was hurled to the referee in the 82nd minute by the hosts, but nothing was given, summing up a rather frustrating evening for the team in black and white.

Tylek was called into action again with another two quick saves from the goalkeeper keeping Frome’s two goal lead alive.

With six minutes added on, the first and only yellow card of the game was given to attacker Josiah McKayle following a late challenge.

With time ticking down, the referee blew the final whistle, a resounding victory for the visitors, a first since 2008, which is ironically the last time the Robins last won this competition.

There is no more action for the Robins until Boxing Day, when we take on Plymouth Parkway at Badgers Hill, it’s a chance to continuing the winning streak and once again we’ll need all the support’s to push us on like they have all season.

But in the meantime, have a Merry Christmas!

Who would believe after that shattering defeat by Marlow – sending us to the bottom of the league, that we could possibly rattle up three straight wins, with three clean sheets and seven goals?

We now look a decent side and thoroughly deserved our win at Vanarama South side, Bath City’s ‘brutalist’ Twerton Park ground The new confidence in the side is there for all to see and our previously grim prospects are seemingly a thing of the past. - A truly amazing turn around. Immense credit to Danny’s management team and the squad. The feeling of success is back at The Hill big time. With Yeovil & Weston playing each other tonight one of the favourites will be out!…
