Chairman's Message: December 2021

The new month sees our chairman Derek Graham provide an update from our board to keep all of our supporters and partners, helping you keep up to date with the clubs progress. Please get in contact if you have any comments or suggestions.

No one said this was going to be easy!

We had a couple of blips in November including injuries to Rigg and Monks, two key midfielders, but the very good result on Saturday against Mangotsfield keeps us top of the table and four points clear of Sholing. Every game is already looking important, and I know that is what we will be hoping for another win against Evesham on Saturday.

There is a great opportunity for you to travel to Evesham on the team coach. I hope as many of you as can join me and the other Directors to support Dan and the boys . We have 8 remaining places on the bus. Book now for just £10 return!

Fixtures and changes

We shouldn't get too many changes going forward now. However, Larkhall had a great win in the Trophy on Saturday, which means we cannot play them away on the 18th December as that clashes with the next round of that competition. They are facing Totton, who we now have a rearranged date of the 14th with for the away fixture. At the time of writing we haven’t been able to bring forward any of our fixtures for the 18th, so it could be a blank game day. So, no excuse not to do the Christmas shopping and make sure you are with us for the last home game before Christmas vs WIlland on the 11th!

Attendances remain brilliant

The atmosphere has been fantastic at the ground and we remain top of the league for attendance as well. We hope you all can continue to tell more friends and colleagues about our club.

Whilst this is great, it does cause problems if everyone turns up just minutes before the game starts. Online payments and cash payments go through easily, but sadly the card machine is no so quick. Can I therefore ask you to please buy your tickets in advance online? Don’t forget you can get a pre-match drink in the Clubhouse and very tasty food from Scout and Hunter whilst the warm ups take place.

We shall be opening extra turnstiles for the Melksham game on 27 December, when we are expecting a bumper crowd. At the moment, that game is still a 3 p.m. kick off, but we will give you plenty of notice if that changes

Wear it Red day

You may have noticed that for our Christmas match vs Melksham at home, we are looking to ask all fans of the club to wear something red! Whether it's a coat, or scarf or even santa hats! As we really want to create a great game to remember. With this in mind, we are hopeful to have a new batch of club scarves available. As you'll know we will have also issued out shirts to families across Frome as part of our Kitmas campaign.

Christmas! If you are struggling for Christmas presents, don’t worry! We have commissioned a new scarf design, and they will be on sale at the Willand game. They really are top quality and a bargain at £15. To make things easier we shall have a stall outside the Club Shop, and you will also be able to buy other kit items. Our online shop had a deadline of the 1st of December to guarantee the deliveries in time for Christmas, but keep looking as more and more items are coming available.

Kitmas

Off the field, the Kitmas initiative has been brilliant. I thank everyone for their tremendous support for this worthwhile cause. It would not be hyperbole to say that we were one of the national leaders in this initiative, with a name check on Sky News no less. Overall we've raised £1,940 and have ordered shirts to provide to the less fortunate children in Frome. We had previously stated that we would include a kids season ticket, but on reflection and feedback, we have decided to give and adult and child ticket for the Melksham game to ensure parents aren't put in a difficult position.

The players have also agreed to buy a selection box for each child as well. Another amazing gesture from the lads. We're waiting on confirmation but believe it will be around 95 children that will receive shirts, tickets and selection boxes. 50:50 prize draw

The 50/50 initiative keeps on running with three lucky people getting a nice cash bonus every month. However, it really does have the potential to be much bigger, and the more people in it, the bigger the prizes. If you are not in it, or your direct debit has lapsed then you can join here.

It would be great if you are able to share this amongst your friends and colleagues as it remains Frome biggest prize draw. But imagine how big it could be! Brian Stevens Before the last Board meeting, Brian Stevens, who has served the Club in numerous roles for many years, has informed us that he does not intend to seek re-election as a Director at the next Annual General Meeting. Although that meeting is some time off, Brian wanted to give us early notice so we can canvass potential new Directors. I thank him for his consideration. Our Articles restrict the overall number of Directors we can have at any one time.

On behalf of our Board and the Board of From Town Holdings Ltd I want to thank Brian for not only the work he has done as a Director but his involvement in helping matchdays run smoothly. This is certainly not the end of Brian's involvement, and we hope to see him for many years to come on matchdays, still helping out.

Supporters Club

The Supporters Club, as always, are doing much to raise funds, including the ‘Three ‘n’ easy’, matchday raffle and Bingo nights. Please do support these initiatives and join the Supporters Club if you haven’t already. If you have any questions please contact John Turner at stadiumdirector@frometownafc.co.uk

If you watch one video today, make it this one...

As this is my last report this year, it only leaves me to wish all you wonderful people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, but I shall see you all on the 27th!
