Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, looks forward to the Robins' FA Cup replay!
In a season of few local derbies, the Robins have been handed a big incentive to progress
from Tuesday’s FA Cup replay against Easington Sports with a home Second Qualifying
Round tie against Larkhall Athletic awaiting the winners.
Danny Greaves’ charges will be looking to chalk up their first Badgers Hill victory of the
campaign and history will be on their side for they have not lost a home Cup replay for some
twenty years when Salisbury City, then two levels higher, triumphed 3-0.
The most recent Badgers Hill FA Cup replays:
1975 1st Qual - Andover Won 5-3
1982 1st Qual - Witney Won 2-1 (2nd replay)
2004 Extra Prelim - Bishop Sutton Won 1-0
2004 2nd Qual - Salisbury Lost 0-3
2011 1st Qual - Hallen Drew 1-1 (won on pens)
2012 1st Qual - Larkhall Won 4-0
2014 2nd Qual - Folland Sports Won 1-0
2023 2nd Qual - Plymouth Parkway Won 2-1
One of the highlights of last season in a campaign of many magical moments has to be that
pulsating encounter here against Plymouth Parkway when a James Ollis double and a
stoppage time penalty save from Kyle Phillips contributed to clinch a dramatic victory and
an epic journey to Ramsgate.
Easington, who gave a more than decent account of themselves in Saturday's 1-1 draw, will
be out to make their own piece of history, having never previously progressed beyond the
First Qualifying Round stage.
They are, however, relative newcomers to the competition, having first entered as recently
as 2018 and have already seen off Portishead (1-0 away) and Bristol Manor Farm (3-1 at
home) this season.
Should the contest be level at ninety minutes, extra time and possibly penalties will decide
the outcome.
Football’s greatest knock-out cup will be 153 years old in November and, despite all the
negative tinkering done in recent times by the powers-that-be, the competition still retains
its traditional magic in these early rounds.

For the first time this season we are going to be big favourites to win tonight - being two tiers higher in status. Looking forward to seeing Joe again ( at wing back hopefully) and Ethan in the middle. It would be good to get an injury update on Jono & Curtis too.
We seem to have missed a few chances lately so perhaps they'll all fly in tonight?
Larkhall is a good draw for us and as a local derby it'll draw another 500 crowd I'm sure to
'The Hill.'. They always give us a good game. so it certainly won't be easy. I'm glad it's a home draw!
I see there's a 'Staley' in the Yate Town squad…
