Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, has a Somerset-Wiltshire clash in his sights.
It’s been five long weeks since Frome Town last played a home fixture. ‘Just as well!’, many would say, judging by their Badgers Hill record this season, but a determined and richly deserved 2-0 victory at Hanwell in their last outing has brought an air of optimism to the place.
Swindon Supermarine will be the visitors for an eagerly-anticipated contest in which latest signing Callum Gould looks set to make his BA11 debut.
The Wiltshire side, who avoided relegation last term by a single point, lost their opening three games of the current campaign but have recovered well and defeat in their last match by the odd goal in three at high-flying AFC Totton ended a run of seven games unbeaten.
Their recent fine form has elevated them to seventh in the table, but they have played more games than most other teams in Premier Division South and their away record is modest with six defeats in nine.
Past Robins v Marine Southern League encounters
Season Division Home Away
2011-12 Prem W 2 – 0 W 2 – 0
2018-19 Prem Sth L 1 – 2 W 4 – 0
The most recent clash between the two was a Southern League Challenge Cup tie in January 2020 at the Webbswood Stadium where a late Dan Cottle goal forced a 1-1 draw and penalty shoot-out which went the way of the Scarlet Runners before a meagre crowd of just 73.
Storms with names have disrupted the fixture list of late but the weather looks set fair for the weekend as Danny Greaves’ charges endeavour to win at home in a regular league clash for the first time since April 12th.
A more modest achievement would be to score in three games running for the first time this season while a positive result could lift them off the foot of the table. All three outcomes would be a fabulous early Christmas present for players, management and fans alike.

Saturday will be our first home game in 5 weeks so we need a big turn out to boost the club's coffers.
Not only does it give us a chance to welcome Courtney to our club but also to see a bit of Callum. Stepping up two levels from the western league is quite a jump , so it's likely to take Callum a while to show his best form. A few of our lads from last season in Division One have struggled to find their best form and for others it's taken a while. Only a few have excelled.
Swindon Supermarine will give us a good game for sure. They sit 5 points off the play offs and have scored…
