Frome Town vs. Yate Town: Preview

Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, previews another tie at Badgers Hill against the Bluebells.

It's home sweet home for the Robins on Saturday as they welcome Yate Town to Badgers Hill for yet another crucial instalment in the title race.

Wimborne        28       60     +28

FROME              27       56      +23

Cribbs                27       51      +10

When Sholing won 3-2 here virtually one year ago to the day, they became the last team to leave with all three points and since then, Danny Greaves' side have built an impressive home unbeaten run in the league which now stretches to NINETEEN games, the last FIVE of which have all been won.

With just a quarter of the regular campaign remaining, it's interesting to see just how consistent they've been over the previous 27 fixtures when broken down into the first three quarters...

Will a similar return in Q4 be enough? Time will tell, but if they can break that twenty point barrier from the nine matches that remain then surely they are in with a shout...?

Relegated from the Premier Division last season,  Yate initially found the going tough in Division One South but post-New Year, a run of  just one defeat in twelve has transformed their fortunes.

Currently in seventh place, they are one of a whole clutch of clubs who, with a fair wind, could yet make the play-offs, but their last competitive outing was three weeks ago so will they be refreshed or ring-rusty?

When Frome visited the Bluebells at their Lodge Road home back in August, they triumphed 1-0 through a first-half Jon Davies strike in a hard-fought contest not too dissimilar to last week's encounter at Bideford.

With just FOUR home games remaining, fans are urged to turn up in numbers and take advantage of our Premium Tickets (including entry, a programme, food and drink) as every fixture from hereon in is a cup final.

There will also be bucket collection for Tom Roberts at Saturday's fixture following his double leg break while playing on loan at Shepton Mallet. We wish the young goalkeeper all the best with his treatment and rehabilitation!

Firstly, let's hope this rain finally dries up - there's been so many games off in our league this last month or so. Our groundsmen do such a fantastic job to get games on at 'The Hill' that they thoroughly deserve a nice bonus - a couple of forks and a nice shiny new wheelbarrow!

I'm sure the Bluebells will give us a tough game - they recently lost 2-0 at home to Wimborne, so a similar result would be good for us. They have recently signed Wayne Ndermani , a very pacy and good right winger from Paulton. He was excellent against us when we played at Paulton earlier in the season.

I think Wimborne will be too str…

Latest scores - Cribbs lost 3-1 at Bristol Manor Farm last night. A crowd of just

over 500 saw BMF race into a 3-0 lead within half an hour.! If we can win today we'll be 8 points clear of Cribbs and it's then looking like a two horse race for the title - I didn't see that coming a month ago!

Torquay United who looked so impressive in knocking us out of the FA Trophy this season, and stood just below the play off places , hardly won a game after. that! This week they went into administration. Gary Johnson has gone and they coped a 10 points deduction too. Now they sit a perilous 3 poin…
