Kane is back

Frome Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of forward Kane Simpson from Southern Premier League side Swindon Supermarine. Kane will be available for tomorrow's match against Totton subject to league approval.

Kane is no stranger to Badgers Hill having started last season with the Robins scoring 8 goals for Frome before moving onto Evesham in November 2018.

At Evesham United, he joined his 2 brothers and scored 17 goals in 20 games, finishing the season with a total of 25 goals. This summer he had a hugely positive trial at Weymouth where he scored and impressed the travelling Weymouth fans at the Specsavers Stadium vs Hamworthy United.

As the summer panned out Kane joined Swindon Supermarines where he scored 4 goals in 5 starts. However Danny Greaves has remained aware of Kane throughout this time and saw a great opportunity to bring Kane back to Badgers Hill. Kane was eager to let the fans know:

"I am looking forward to being back. I enjoyed it here last time, but had to leave for my own personal reasons. I've scored a quite a few goals in this league. I'm looking forward to helping the club challenge at the top end of the table"

Manager Danny Greaves commented on Kane:

"I am delighted to be able to welcome Kane back to the club. He is young and hungry, and will to work hard and learn. He did tremendously well in his short spell, scoring a number of goals in the league above, and finishing our top scorer despite leaving in November.

...and on competition for places:

"Most successful sides have 2, 3 and sometimes 4 centre forwards, and I felt we were looking a little light in that department of we are to maintain our position in the top 6. Kane offers us something completely different to Will Hailston and Ryan Bath so we now have really good options for all situations which will be important."
