Marcus Day Signs Ahead of 24/25 Season!

We are excited to announce the signing of forward Marcus Day.

Marcus will return to the Robins on a permanent basis from Taunton Town. Before joining the Peacocks last summer, he progressed through the ranks at Bristol City. In 2022/23, he finished with a Southern League Division One South winners' medal following a mid-season move to Totton.

The BA11 supporters will have fond memories of Marcus making a total of eight appearances for Frome during a successful two-month loan late last year, scoring a couple of goals including a late winner against Exmouth Town in December.

Danny Greaves said of his third signing this summer: "I am delighted to bring Marcus back to the club on a permanent basis. He is a player with undoubted quality and has performed at a higher level. He is still only young and has so much potential to develop his game further. Having spent time with us on loan last season, he knows the club and knows us as a group and how we work and how we play so he can hit the ground running. During his loan spell we saw glimpses of what he is capable of scoring a couple of goals, despite not being 100% fit and playing slightly out of position."

"With Kane departing we lost a lot of pace out of the side and that ability to stretch teams, and Marcus possesses that quality, and can play in a number of attacking positions whether that be off the side, or down the middle off the shoulder. It's exciting to think he performed to those levels whilst not being anywhere near match fit. After being recalled, he went on to be a regular for Taunton Town in the National League South and when speaking to Rob Dray recently, he was extremely complementary about his performances."

Introduced on the Dodge The Question podcast, the forward summed up his feelings on a return to Badgers Hill: "Cannot wait to getting going again at Frome Town. It was a good spell here when I was on loan, the sort of attacking football that I like to play. It's the right move for me to play my football here!"

To hear more from Marcus as well as a run-through of the players we have retained so far with Danny Greaves and Tom Bond, have a listen to the latest episode of BA11's very own football podcast.

Welcome back to BA11 and best of luck, Marcus!

That's another really good signing - Marcus played really well for us in that short spell last season. He's a talented lad for sure and has certainly got goals in him. We seem to have plenty of wide players in the squad now : Marcus, Jono, Duracell Drew , Reece Rusher and Albie Hopkins Not to mention Sam Heal and young Duffers if they re-sign?

We've perked up our midfield with Nielsen, which I think needed doing and of course, now we need a couple of really good strikers to replace Kane & Meaksie.

I think we 've signed 3 really good, skilful players, who all score goals. Still a few defensive gaps to fill but all looking good …
