Melksham Town vs. Frome Town: Preview and Ticket Info

Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, looks ahead to the bank holiday derby clash.

With the dust barely settled following The Robins demolition job on Bideford, they go again on Easter Monday with an eagerly anticipated derby encounter over the border at Melksham.

Wimborne's inactivity over the holiday weekend gives Danny Greaves' side the opportunity to claim top spot as they bid to extend a fine run over the past six weeks or so in which they have picked-up 22 points from a possible 24.

Top Three

                          Pld       Pts      GD

Wimborne        30        66       +30

FROME              30        65       +30

Cribbs                31        58       +10

Melksham secured a decent 1-1 draw at Malvern on Good Friday which keeps them in 16th place with just one win in their last eleven outings but they are a team who, more recently, have proved difficult to break down, conceding only eight goals in eight games.

They are one of just three sides who have come away from Badgers Hill with a point this season following that 'bonkers' Boxing Day 2-2 thriller which yielded more red cards than goals.

Frome have been dumped on their backsides more than once in recent visits to the Oakfield Stadium and form can go out of the window in the hurly-burly of a derby encounter.

It's a big game which will attract a big crowd and they will need cool heads and a steely resolve to overcome stubborn opponents.

There's going to be a lot of ''flareless Dodgers' going to this one so the atmosphere should be great. I have a feeling that this could be an 800 - 1,000 gate.

Yate Town ( A very good side now, observed after we beat them 2-0, that Wimborne & Frome are in a different league to the rest. That's quite a compliment..

When we played Melksham at 'The Hill, before the ref' went red crazy, we were all over them like a rash and could have been 3-0 up! Whilst this won't be easy, we are now a very competitive side in great form and Mellksham are not in our league, or as good or better th…
