Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, jots down his thoughts ahead of a county clash with Western League opposition.
The Robins take a break from their hectic league programme on Tuesday evening and, instead, turn their attention to the Somerset Premier Cup quarter-final stage with a first-ever visit to, and indeed, a first-ever meeting with, Western League newcomers, Mendip Broadwalk.
A last-four berth awaits the winners who will join Paulton Rovers and Weston-super-Mare along with either Street or Clevedon Town whose postponed tie has been rearranged for next week.
Knowle-based Mendip Broadwalk, whose home is BBS Park, Filwood Playing Fields, were formed as recently as 2015 following a merger between Mendip United and Broadwalk FC.
They immediately won the Bristol Premier Combination and moved rapidly up through the various levels of the Somerset Senior League.
Post-Covid, they finished second and fifth in the Premier Division before being crowned champions last season and with it, the prize of promotion to Division One of the Western League.
The Bristol outfit have acquitted themselves well in their first campaign at Step Six and Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Cadbury Heath leaves them in tenth spot with a record of P 31 (W 12, D 7, L 12).

IMHO - This is a relatively easy game for the Robins - being three tiers higher we should be far too strong for MB who play in the lower division of the Western League. Previously we put four past Brislington, who play in the league above (Premier) to them. I expect a similar result.
With Paulton & Weston Super Mare already in the semis - Frome have a great chance to join them . The other Quarter final is between Premier Western league Street (5th) & Clevedon - who are top , so , this one is not easy to call.
