Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, details all the build-up to our clash with the Dolphins.
The Scarlet Runners continue their quest for survival points on Saturday with a trip to the BlackGold Stadium home of Poole Town in what is a huge game for both sides.
Since their last-gasp victory at Badgers Hill back in October, the Dolphins have won just TWO of FOURTEEN subsequent Southern League encounters (both of those wins being against Basingstoke) and find themselves just a single place and a single point above the drop zone.
Their poor form brought about a change of management a few days into the New Year and, if Danny Greaves’ charges could come away with a welcome win, they would close the gap between themselves and safety to just FOUR points with games in hand.
If is a big word, especially in footballing terms and they will have to overturn some very recent and some not-so-recent history. Despite their current indifferent run, Poole are unbeaten in THREE home fixtures since Christmas and Frome’s last SIX visits to Tatnam have all ended in defeat, often comprehensive.
Recent away encounters with Poole Town include:
Season Competition
2008-09 FA Cup W 3 – 1
2013-14 FA Trophy replay L 1 – 3
2013-14 Southern Prem L 2 – 4
2014-15 Southern Prem L 0 – 7
2015-16 Southern Prem L 0 – 5
2018-19 FA Trophy L 1 – 2
2018-19 Southern Prem Sth L 0 – 3
There’s no better time to end that unwanted run and to avenge that painful 3-2 defeat suffered at The Hill earlier in the campaign. When Matt Wood nodded home his second goal of the afternoon in the 90th minute, it looked to have salvaged a deserved draw, but skipper Jamie Whisken headed an even later winner for the visitors.
A violent storm accompanied by red weather warnings caused the return to be cancelled in December. Which of the reds will storm to vital victory on the first day of February?

Westbury United Fixtures ?
Westbury will play 8 games at The Hill in the las 12 weeks of the season - all on Saturdays at present. 6 of those fixtures Frome are playing away so there's no issues there at all.
However, Westbury's fixtures on the 22/02 Yate Town & 05/04 Tavistock do clash with Frome home games v Marlow & Chertsey. . So those Westbury games will be rescheduled - possibly to a Tuesday night?

The Robins were very unlucky to lose 2-3 at The Hill earlier this season when Kyle had a bit of a nightmare. I'm sure he'll put that right on Saturday. I take the Robins to come back from Dorset with a precious point.
The rearranged home game against Hanwell is on Tuesday March 11th.
