Frome Town Women start season with a frustrating 6 1 defeat at Olveston in the Women’s FA Cup.


On a day to forget for Frome who started without some regular players due to injury put in a good effort on a hot sunny afternoon in Bristol.


Olveston came out firing on all cylinders with a excellent minded game plan.

They took the lead when a cross which was unfortunately deflected into the own goal by a Frome defender. Olveston kept creating attacks but the safe hands off player of the match Billet denied Olveston.


Olveston kept coming strong and were 3 0 up before a high press from Wyatt forced the defence into a mistake which Wyatt got a vital touch to make it 3 1.


Frome had a good opportunity when Harris connected to a Peet ball which goalie saved.


In 2nd half Olveston defended in there numbers and kept creating chances on a day where nothing would fall for Frome.

Olveston kept creating chances and the game finished 6 1, with Frome battling to the end but it was not to be their day.


Frome Town manager Ben Bolland said : "Wasn't a good day for Frome Women's. We didn't execute our plan as well as we could do and suffered from lack of depth in the match day squad, especially in the heat. Myself and the players are dissapointed. We didn't give a good account of ourselves to day. But we know we have a lot of talent , and can make some big improvements going forward, and that will be our focus as we pick up League matches in the coming weeks. Work to do, but confident we will get there quickly."
