Frome Town FC are delighted to announce that captain Sam Teale has signed a new deal keeping him at the club for the 2019/20 season.
Teale will start his fifth season at Badgers Hill in August, after he signed from Paulton Rovers back in 2015.
The experienced defender is a key part of a young Robins squad, as he has shown his leadership qualities on-and-off the pitch.
In what was a difficult season for the team, Teale managed to secure two of the 'End Of Season' Awards, winning Manager's and Director's Player of Season.
Manager Danny Greaves is very pleased to have got his captain signed on quickly, as he looks to build a squad ready to compete for promotion next season.
Greaves said: “He is our captain and a leader, but also has the experience required to help with the younger lads.
“He sets the example to all around him when he crosses the white line, and everyone will need to follow that standard.
“By turning down a couple of good offers from higher league clubs, and by now signing a contract, it shows he also buys into what we are trying to build on-and-off the pitch. He wants to be a part of the exciting future.
“I would also like to thank the board for their support and backing, as this contract is a big commitment from all parties.”
Teale explained that his relationship with The Robins faithful was a crucial factor in securing his signature, after he signed his new deal.
He said: “I’m happy to commit to the club for the 2019/20 season. After last year’s disappointing season, it’s time to rebuild and bounce back.
“I have a great relationship with the management, club and the fans. I would just like to thank the fans once again for paying for my scan last season and it was a big part of me committing for the upcoming season.”
