To mark Sam Teale’s testimonial year, we will be holding a number of events during the second half of this season to celebrate his exemplary service to the club.
We can confirm our super skipper will lead a Sam Teale XI against a Scott Murray's Legends XI on Sunday 13th April 2025.
Tickets will be available to purchase in the next few weeks.
As part of this fixture, we will also be selling some playing spots to appear as part of Scott Murray’s matchday squad. Included with these is an opportunity to feature on Badgers' Hills hallowed turf alongside some Bristol City legends and pit yourself against a bona fide Robins legend in Tealey. These will be limited to just five places, and we will let you know when these are up for grabs.
Loyalty in football is a rare thing these days and fans of Frome Town are lucky to have a skipper who is now in his TENTH straight season with the club.
SAM TEALE was signed as a left back by Nick Bunyard from Paulton Rovers back in September 2015, having previously turned out for Clevedon (over 100 appearances), Mangotsfield and Weston-super-Mare.
His debut was a tad low key, a 4-0 home defeat to Hitchin, but, having been made captain almost straight away, the Robins’ fortunes improved as they moved well clear of the Premier Division relegation zone.
Versatility is part of his make-up and a goalkeeping crisis later that season caused him to play the entire game at Weymouth in goal where none other than George Rigg, with a deflected effort, robbed him of the honour of a possible clean sheet.
The following campaign, 2016-17, was the club’s most successful to date at Step Three with an eighth-place finish but twelve months later, financial difficulties led to an exodus of key personnel and up stepped Tealey to take the managerial reins for the final few games of the season.
Just as the side seemed to be clawing their way out of relegation trouble in the spring of 2019, he sustained a season-ending knee injury and a single point from their remaining seven fixtures sealed their fate.
Comfortable anywhere along the back line, he clocked up club appearance No. 200 during the 2021-22 campaign and scored from the halfway line against Willand, the footage of which went totally viral.
That season ended in double heartbreak; pipped on the line to the title by Plymouth Parkway and play-off defeat to Bristol Manor Farm but the skipper’s consistent performances the following campaign, ultimately another near miss, earned the accolade of Supporters’ Player of the Year.
It all came together last May as Captain Fantastic drove his teammates on to the most memorable of climaxes to a fabulous campaign when Badgers Hill, bursting at the seams, witnessed sweet and dramatic revenge over The Farmy Army in a thrilling play-off final.
Outplayed initially and on the ropes, it was inevitably Tealey and a crashing header, his seventh goal of the season, that got the Scarlet Runners up and running and an inspiring man-of-the-match display lifted all around him to perform at full tilt and there was only going to be one outcome.
The image of the skipper being carried shoulder high by jubilant fans, red smoke bomb held aloft, is iconic and a fitting tribute to all the hard years of dedication to the cause.
Play-off final winner, managers’ player of the year and, in August just gone, he joined an elite group of just a dozen or so legends who have reached the milestone of THREE HUNDRED Frome Town appearances.
The statistics so far aren't bad reading either...

Yup, What a terrific player he has been. He's seen promotions and relegations during his time but his consistency has been amazing. Captain fantastic for sure.
This season has been very tough and much harder than we all thought it would be, culminating with being dumped into bottom spot after Marlow won again yesterday - beating Wimborne 3-2!
The biggest compliment I can pay 'Tealey' is that he's been, alongside Alex Monks, our best two players so far this season and has been in outstanding form - he's as good as ever. Without him and Monksie this season and their 'never say die' attitude I dread to think where we'd be?
We could do with a few more of his…
