Frome Town were edged out by Wimborne Town in a scrappy encounter.
Last seasons encounter at New Cuthbury was a title decider, this year circumstances were different, but the game didn’t play out any differently, as the whole 90 minutes were tightly contested.

Ultimately, a disastrous two minute spell is what cost the Robins today, Alex Monks was dismissed in the 78th minute and from the following free-kick Sam Jackson was able to slot past Phillips to give his side three valuable points.
The first half was an non event, a fair amount of route one football was played mainly down to the difficult surface, and neither side were able to get on top in the game.
Apart from a poorly executed free-kick a piece, Frome’s coming from Albie Hopkins in the 16th minute and Wimborne’s coming from Matty Burrows in the 20th minute, the only real chance came in the 29th minute when the ball fell nicely for Cameron Munn who then fired an effort from 30 yards out, that forced Phillips into a comfortable diving stop.
The second half was a similar story, although the BA11 side just about edged it in chances created but failed to take any of them.
Albie Hopkins went close in the 53rd minute after beating his man to the ball he cut in a curled a low effort towards the bottom corner that Cameron Plain parried out.
Twenty minutes later, Archie Ferris went inches away from heading his side into the lead from a free-kick, unfortunately his effort went a whisker wide of the left hand post.
As the game appeared to be heading for a goalless draw a two minute spell proved costly for the Robins, as Alex Monks lunged into a challenge on Munn, catching the attacker late and the referee deemed it enough for a straight red card. From the resulting free-kick, a lapse in concentration allowed Jackson to steer the ball in at the at post to put the Magpies a goal to the good.
Danny Greaves men did show more attacking threat in the remaining ten minutes, they had to, but failed to get past a stubborn Wimborne defence.
The closest they came to scoring was in the 83rd minute but Plain made a fantastic double save to keep his side ahead, ultimately securing the three points for his side.
Next up is an away trip to Tiverton Town, a huge clash and we’ll need you supporting the lads every step of the way.

What a disaster of a day! We lost to a late goal, just after Monksie sees red for the second time this season. – so, our best midfielder will be out for the next three game. That’s a big blow.
The 5 teams above us all win. We are now five points adrift again. In reality it’s six as our goal difference isn’t good enough to topple Chertsey who won after five straight defeats. This will take several weeks to rectify and there are only 8 weeks of the season left. It’s going to be a gripping finale for sure.
We do have a couple of games in hand on some of the sides around us – I think we’re going to…
