Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, examines a testing trip away in Dorset this weekend.
The Scarlet Runners return to the scene of their biggest away clash of last season with a visit to the Wyatt Homes Stadium base of Wimborne Town.
Both have found the going tough following promotion last term although the Dorset outfit have eased their own relegation worries in the past couple of weeks with a vital 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Poole followed up by a decent 1-1 draw at Dorchester in the Magpie derby.

Having previously gone six games without a win, they now find themselves in fifteenth spot, five points above the drop zone but such is the closeness of this division, just a couple of bad results can push any side in the bottom half back into the heat of the fight for survival.
Danny Greaves’ charges have become draw specialists of late, sharing the spoils in their last FOUR Southern League encounters, but being hard to beat is no bad thing, especially away from home where they will be looking to extend a run since November of having lost just ONCE in EIGHT trips.
With progress to the county cup semi-final stage secured after Wednesday’s win over a plucky Mendip Broadwalk, their fixture schedule gets even more hectic and they will now at least match last term’s lengthy FIFTY-match schedule.
Frome v Wimborne - past Southern League encounters:
Season Division Home Away
2010-11 One S & W W 3 – 1 W 3 – 0
2018-19 Premier South W 1 – 0 L 2 – 3
2022-23 One South W 3 – 0 W 4 – 1
2023-24 One South D 2 – 2 D 1 – 1
Both of last season’s gripping encounters ended in all square. The Robins come into this fixture on a sequence (in league games) of D, D, D and D while the Magpies have drawn two of their last three. Are we in for yet another share of the spoils, or can someone upset the form guide and plunder three precious points?
The latest information on ticketing according to the Magpies' website is as follows:
Adult - £14.00
Concession (seniors over 60, students with a valid NUS card, Armed Forces and Emergency Services with a valid ID) - £8.00
Under 18s - £5.00
Under 13s - £2.00

Interestingly Football Web Pages are now predicting that we'll go down, 3 points adrift - with Marlow, Poole & Winchester.
But don't panic, football scores are as hard to predict as horse racing, no matter how scientific their so called resources. And I should know as I've paid for for several bookies' holidays over the years!!! And I haven't won Steve's three & Easy either!!!
