Frome scorers: Underhill, Isaacson, Christer, Bristow & Restorick
POM: Christmas
Frome Town Women took to the road to take on Penn Mill Ladies of Yeovil, to try and book a place in the next round of the Somerset junior cup. The previous weeks sleepy start was firmly dispelled with Fromes striker Christmas 2 minutes in busting through and winning the foot race with the out rushing keeper but her effort was cleared off the line.
Pen Mill themselves looking threatening with some strong physical play picked up their 1st corner on 5 minutes and reacted fastest to the 2nd ball to take the lead. Frome battled hard all over the pitch with tackles flying in and came close to an equaliser with a good volleyed effort from Underhill a full 30 yards out. Fromes efforts were rewarded on 40 minutes when Harris diverted the ball into the goal to square up the tie via her back side !!
Frome came out and started the 2nd half on the front foot with Christmas becoming a real pain to the Penn Mill back four getting in behind them with her pace and persistence.
With the game still in the balance Frome conceded a 2nd with a mix up in defence gifting the home side the lead, but to the women’s credit Frome levelled it up within 5 minutes with nice work from Petteford and Christmas teeing up Christer to keep a cool head and slot home from 20 yards.leaving the last 15 minutes for either side to grab a winner. 90 minutes played and all square 2-2 With extra time not on the menu so straight into penalties.
Underhill, Isaacson, Christer, Bristow & Restorick all scored to run out winners 5-4.
Supporters player on the match was awarded to Christmas for her tireless work rate from start to finish battling with Penn Mills back four and proving to be a real thorn in their side. So into the hat for the next round!
